To Thalassaki is located on the island’s south on the Andros side, next to the pretty village of Kardiani with a view towards neighboring Syros. Its menu is inspired by the colors and shapes of tradition, executed with local ingredients prepared with care and creativity. Home-made tomato paste is paired with cheese, while pollen cheese is made into Tinos cheese pie, artichokes are roasted and served as salad, sun-dried capers are paired with cod and garlic puree, vegetables are grilled, pulse salad tastes of the nurturing elements, salted cod takes on a leading role when strong winds make fishing impossible, grape must is made into syrup and used in dressings, goat meat is flavored with thyme, garlicky sausage is grilled, avgotaraho (botargo) is sprinkled over garlicky spaghetti, local cheese is whipped with sugar and eggs as a base for lemon pie, and meringues are accented by orange preserves. Thalassaki has seating just ten meters from the water’s edge on the pier, with a view of the sea.
