A Few Words

About us

“To psaraki” was an idea of Thanasis Sfougaris and Angeliki Synetou. Having worked for many years in some of the best restaurants in Greece, and with over 10 years work in Santorini, we decided to start a tavern in the island that we have loved.

The chalengeA

Having won two “Golden Hat” awards, and many other distinctions, this tavern is our effort to return to the core tastes and principles of traditional greek food. Some of Greece’s most loved recipes are prepared with respect to tradition, and infused fresh local ingredients.

We want to stay close to traditional tavern food, but avoid the “fast food” approach in the  preparation and selection of ingredients. An approach that is regrettably very common in some of the tourist areas of the Greek islands. 


We wish to create a cuisine that is affordable but makes no concessions to the quality and freshness of ingredients. This is the reason why you want see us make fancy arrangements of your food in the plates, and all our cutlery and serving are unassuming and simple. We have placed our efforts in the selection and preparation of the ingredients, and if you are happy with the food we serve, we are certain that you will forgive our plain and unassuming setup.
