A Few Words
Our fish-tavern was established in 1971 by Kyriakos I. Pizanias, a man of exceptional intelligence, in-depth education and unparalleled knowledge of seafood, the grandfather from his mother’s side of Yannis Tsampis, the current owner. Being himself very particular as to the quality of what he ate, he wished to instil this approach to food to his clients as well, to the point where the latter ate not in the manner that they themselves wished but as he, Kyriakos, wanted them to; a situation which, however, was happily accepted by everyone. Various food connoisseurs, certain of which were amongst the most renowned, that published reviews in domestic and foreign magazines about the dishes he prepared for and served to them, talked about a “School of Pizanias” the main characteristic of which was the purity in taste. Grandpa Pizanias absolutely forbade the use of spices, especially in the preparation of fish. One could regularly hear him say: “I strive to offer the very best and you will sully it with spices?” This mentality was greatly appreciated by his clients and it is thus no surprise that great personalities, such as thinkers, politicians and actors from all over the world, were regular clients of our tavern, such as the famous French director Henri-Georges Clouzot (with whom they were the dearest of friends), actors Anthony Quinn, Telly Savalas, Roger Moore, Claudia Cardinale etc., pictures of whom ornate the walls of the interior of the tavern. Today we proudly continue the same tradition. This means that here “you will eat as we want”, any food you select will be of the highest quality, you will have no doubt whatsoever that everything will be authentic, fresh, well-prepared and a heavenly treat to your palate; and for these reasons we are certain that you will be left completely satisfied and satiated.
