Metalleio invites patrons to follow its path of flavors, aromas, and sounds from the island. At night, the bar-restaurant’s cool courtyard serves as a dining area for sampling Mediterranean dishes featuring creative flavor pairings washed down with selections from the extensive wine list—and all at good prices. The palate flirts with roast potatoes flavored with aromatic herbs and sour cream; cheese saganaki coated in a crispy combination of sesame seeds with tomato marmalade; a “tube” of mizithra cheese flecked with sesame and drizzled with lemon verbena honey; fried zucchini and fried eggplants seasoned with coarse salt and wild herbs; small tomato pies with kaseri cheese and thyme; fennel fritters; risotto with fresh tomatoes and ksinomizithra cheese; orzo simmered in a sauce of fresh tomatoes and thyme, sprinkled with Naxos graviera cheese; and Serifos-style pork slow-cooked in a clay pot with rosemary and souma, served over pureed smoked eggplant. After midnight, the bar element dominates as Metalleio transforms from restaurant to club.
