A Few Words

Set on a hillside between Ios port and the island’s picture-perfect Chora, Grandma’s Restaurant overlooks the Aegean Sea, offering unforgettable dining experiences imprinted with unique, sea-view sunsets. Its delicious voyage takes place on an open-air deck, by the pool, as all authentic Mediterranean dining experiences should; Grandma’s proudly embodies the heart-warming hospitality philosophy of Liostasi and serves with consistency its gastronomic purpose since 2010.

This season marks a special milestone for Grandma’s, as the restaurant launches the collaboration with the celebrated chef Sotiris Evaggelou, one of the country’s leading ambassadors of Modern Greek Cuisine. In his capacity as consulting chef, Mr. Evaggelou along with the executive chef Christos Kanoulas, have been sourcing top-quality ingredients from the Cycladic islands, crafting new dishes inspired by the region’s rich culinary traditions and developing a -du jour- creative philosophy.

The sophisticated simplicity of Ios Gastronomy; the wonderful products of the island’s rural countryside and the Aegean Sea, offer inspiration for the establishment of a thoughtful menu that reflects the essence of Greece, with emphasis to seasonality and a winning blend of tradition and novelty. Ios traditional products, the freshest Cycladic fish, seafood and meat as well as an excellent selection of outstanding Greek local delicacies and cheeses, compose the elements of an authentic culinary experience, which is accompanied by an extensive wine list that features regional Greek wines. Grandma’s experience wouldn’t be complete without a selection of excellent desserts, that will make the mellow Mediterranean evenings even sweeter.

Grandma’s summer dinners are wrapped with the signature Liostasi curated collection of art. In the middle of the restaurant stands imposingly the hollow tree trunk made of cast aluminium by the Greek sculptor Dionisis Souvatzoglou, while guests overlook “Αnatasis”, the emblematic Kostis Georgiou sculpture that represents dancers; and the pool’s impressive water canal with Homer’s Odyssey Prologue written in Ancient Greek and English.

Grandma’s Restaurant is honored with a Toques d’ Or in 2019 and 2020 award, in the category “Modern Cuisine”.
