Griniaris, a well-kept secret of taste!
Hidden behind the big old traditional square of (Aghios Ioannis) Saint John, there is a little but miraculous haunt for good food and well-trained-in-music ears! “Griniaris”, the traditional seafood tavern, with the big painted octopus as its trademark, welcomes its people in the yard full of flowers and plants, where the scent of honeysuckle and jasmine dominates. In the summer, the yard gets fills with laughter, songs and beautiful, delicious dishes on the small tables, while in the winter, the place welcomes its friends inside, where the decoration is composed of beloved artists, elements of traditional music and art but also people from different eras. The interior of the restaurant indicates the origin of its owners, Giannis and Litsa, who decided to “dress” with Kalymnos island- theme, not only the place but also their menu.
Apart from the decoration, what really fills the air are the smells of the food of Griniaris! The materials that make each of the restaurant’s dishes are carefully and specifically chosen to highlight the taste and quality of each recipe, which is the test result of the owners, but also of the full acceptance of customers! Barley loaves from Kalymnos, for the most traditional salad of Kalymnos, the "mermizeli", "Griniaris" shrimps, and also shrimps hidden in the most famous dish of the restaurant, the risotto, and also green beans with garlic, juicy octopus balls and cuttlefish with its ink, which will fully satisfy your choice! These are a few of the dishes, made with quality and a lots of love.
And while eating and drinking, twice a week you have the opportunity to accompany your food with beautiful music that will “travel” you back to old times!
Good Food and beautiful music, in a place built for fun and enjoyment and free of bad habits such as smoking, which is strictly allowed, but only outside!
