Anargyros opened in 1925 as a coffee house but was operated as a restaurant since 1960. That year it was featured in the Greek film “Mandalena” and first became known to foreign visitors to the island. Since then, Anargyros has become a reference point in Antiparos’s growth. Anargyros is located in the center of the harbor’s traditional settlement, right where the pedestrian section begins. The décor is simple and reflects the elements from vernacular architecture through use of the colors white and blue and materials like wood, stone, plants, and aromatic herbs. The restaurant’s equipment was recently updated to meet the latest international specifications and technical demands. It’s also restaurant practice to emphasize the use of local products and traditional recipes from Antiparos, the Cyclades, and the Aegean. Anargyros aims to embody principles and behaviors like respect, honesty, politeness, and service with a smile while also promoting this unique tradition. Its third generation of owners also strive to create a welcoming atmosphere that is conducive to exploring the island’s culinary traditions. Anargyros is open from May through October.
